Meet Chris Haigh

Chris Haigh is a highly respected fiddle teacher known for his deep knowledge and love for folk music. He has spent years exploring different styles of fiddle music, from the traditional tunes of Ireland and Scotland to the lively sounds of gypsy jazz.

Chris has a special way of teaching that makes learning complex music ideas easy and fun for everyone, no matter their level. What you will learn


Fiddle Foundations

This module will introduce you to the magic and diversity of folk music. Each style will be introduced and then you will learn a tune from that tradition.

For this module you will want to have been playing violin for a few years already. Chris will assume you have had a look at the tune in advance (the sheet music is available to download for each tune) and will focus more on helping you develop a more authentic sound through bowing, rhythm and ornamentation.


Introduction to Irish Fiddle

In this module we will concentrate more on some of the ornamentation, bowing and rhythm that will help you get to grips with the wonderful music of Ireland.


Introduction to Scottish Fiddle

In this introductory module, you will have a whirlwind tour through the main styles of Scottish music giving you tips on bowing, style and ornamentation. For those of you that read music, the sheet music is also available to download.


Techniques

This course also comes with 19 short technique videos covering everything from bowing to how to play for dancing.
