Spend some time with this lesson learning the basics of The Banks of Loch Gowner, an unusual jig in the key of B minor. Chris will take you through the fingering before taking you through the tune phrase by phrase.
In this lesson, Chris teachers Denis Murphy’s Polka, one of a set of three tunes from Kerry – the Kerry Polkas. It’s named after Denis Murphy, a fiddle player from the south of Ireland and has become one of the most iconic folk fiddle tunes.
Down by the Sally Garden is one of the simplest tunes to learn as it’s only in one octave with just five notes to play. It’s a beautiful tune and one you can do many things with including the tone, bowing and ornamentation. You’ll find individual lessons on ornamentation in this techniques library.
